Off to a Great Start!

Our first full day of summer (Saturday) was a busy one. Brandon and I spent the day painting the deck. But at the end I made a fun new ball toss toy for the kids.  They loved it!

Then after all that excitement, I made cake pops for the first time ever. It was a bit of a challenge for the dipping part. But the rest was pretty easy!

Sunday was another day of painting in the morning. Woo hoo. But on the upside, I have a new lawn boy! The big guy learned to mow the lawn and I plan to enforce the new child labor around here! Yes, I was sitting on my bum while he mowed. I don't feel even a little bit guilty.

The little guy did his share too. He scraped all the weeds out of the cracks in the driveway. We are doing real good around here.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday were also great! I did a great deal of painting this week but we also did work pages and chores. The boys have been great with playing together to let me get the painting done. We did manage to sign up for the library reading program and Canon is already done with his book. We also got our stuff for the FoamFest (more on this after Saturday). Next week will have some trips to the park and other fun stuff...

Summer is definitely off to a great start!

It's Here!!!!!

Finally! Summer vacation.

Say it with me now... Ahhhhh (like a sigh of relief - not the scary screaming noise we make sometimes!).

I'm so happy to have time that is more flexible and free. Don't get me wrong... I'll be begging for the routine come the first of August. But for now, thank goodness we are here. I'm so relieved.

We even started off with making moon sand! So fun!!! 8 cups of flour plus 1 cup of baby oil... It was very soft and totally entertaining. And I got to start a "Did It" board on my pinterest! I plan to do all those fun activities and report on how they go. Check off one and it was great!

I can't wait to do some more and to just enjoy the summer. We just finished up 1st and 3rd grade. Feels like they are headed off to college tomorrow...

The Home Stretch

We are in the home stretch. School is almost done (only 1.5 days to go). I can't wait for the days of less routine. I'm looking forward to having the time to do fun crafts and activities with the boys. I also can't wait to just have a couple PJ days or head up to Lake Tahoe for an afternoon. We are so close! I'm also looking forward to my favorite holiday of the whole year! 4th of July! I just love it and I'm already planning for a fun day of activities for the kids and yummy treats!

Here's a little look at what's been going on...
Only funny to a few select people. Makes me smile though! And I made the sign myself.

First trip to Crowley for the season and of course a trip to the candy store...,

Planning to do some exploring this year at Crowley. We finally went to the train museum!

iSheeple

FINALLY another post.  So I'm a huge slacker. It's tough being me...

Well anyway, on Sunday, the husband and I went to the Verizon Wireless Store to buy new cell phones.  You see I have been VERY spoiled for the last few years.  My brother had me on his cell phone plan and was so generous in paying for it and my phone.  Then in the most recent couple years, he added texting to the plan and we got the husband a phone too.  I did start paying a small fee when he upgraded to texting.  But on Sunday, the husband and I decided to be real grownups and get our own cell phone plan.

So now the husband and I have joined the masses.  We both got iPhones.  This is amazing because I never thought the husband would ever let us get any Apple product EVER.  He is very much set against Apple because he feels they cater to the non-computer type people.  He feels it is not for him because he is very much a computer type person.  So we own no iPad, or iPod, or Mac's or anything like that.  But he finally decided that Apple has the market on the bestest cell phone.  So off we went to spend our hard earned dollars on 2 iPhones and a brand new cell phone plan.  Boy was I excited to shell out major money for this one... (yes, that is sarcasm).

But within only moments of having my iPhone, I fell in love.  There are so many fun features!  And most importantly I finally got to download the Instagram App from the AppStore!  So let me share and maybe I'll have more of these soon.  You just never know, it might increase my blogging a bit... We'll see.

And so look at that adorable guy.  Isn't it awesome!?

Finally. A New Year Post.

It's been busy.  Not the "I'm so important and everyone needs me" busy (although my kids sometimes make me feel that way or like an indentured servant - depends on the day).  But just the "winding down from the holidays" busy.  The "starting school again" busy.  The "cleaning up all the holiday crap" busy.  The "trying to take a few moments for myself" busy.  The "trying to get back in the groove of eating right and exercising" busy.  Today, my house is a bit cleaner and I've had some time to relax.

This week, my little guy started karate.  He won a free pass for a month and we thought we would give it a try.  He's had one class and it was okay.  We'll see how he does over the rest of the month.  But I must say that he looks ever so cute and awesome in his do bok.

I suppose we will see what the new year brings.  For now, I'm just thankful everyone is healthy and mostly happy.
